Transfer credit will be granted for the first two years of the ELPD program with the exception of the following courses:

  • Principles of Ethical Reasoning*
  • Professional Engagement IV*
  • One Breadth Elective course**

*These courses must be successfully completed as part of the bridge requirements prior to acceptance to the ELPD program.

** It is preferred that the breadth elective course be taken as part of the bridge prior to acceptance. However, this course may also be taken after admission, in addition to the required courses in year 3 or 4 of the program.

Requirements

Graduates of the 2-year Early Childhood Education diploma with a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply for advanced standing to the third year of the Bachelor of Early Learning Program Development (ELPD). Applicants must also successfully complete three bridging courses, two of which must be completed prior to receiving an offer of admission to the ELPD program at Conestoga. It is preferred that the third bridge course, a breadth elective be taken prior to admission as part of the bridge. However, this course may also be taken after admission, in addition to the required courses in year 3 or 4 of the ELPD program.

Program Residency Requirement

In order to graduate from the Bachelor of Early Learning Program Development (Honours) program, advanced standing students must successfully complete:

  • Years 3 and 4
  • One Breadth Elective Course (may be taken prior to admission or concurrently in either year 3 or 4)
  • One Co-operative work term

Cancellation Policy

All Conestoga pathways will have a default review date of three years from the date of implementation. Pathways may have a shorter review date if substantive curriculum changes are made to either the sending or receiving program. Students enrolled in the receiving institution at the time of any change or notice of termination will be given the opportunity to complete their studies based on the terms of the transfer pathway in effect at the time of their enrollment.
