Transfer pathways search

Students who entered the Urban Forestry Technician Diploma program in Fall 2021 or later will receive the following 10.0 transfer credits, provided they meet eligibility requirements:

• 0.5 ERSC 1020H - Cases in Environment and Sustainability
• 0.5 ERSC 2080H - Natural Science Statistics
• 0.5 GEOG-ERSC 2090H - Introduction to Geographical Information Systems
• 0.5 ERSC 2240H - Ecological Assessment for Natural Resource Management
• 1.0 ERSC 3200Y - Management of Forest Ecosystems
• 0.5 GEOG 3510H - Glacial and Quaternary Geomorphology
• 0.5 INDG 1001H - The Foundation for Reconciliation
• 1.0 unassigned Environmental and Resource Science credit at the 2000 level
• 1.0 unassigned Environmental and Resource Science credit at the 3000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Communications credits at the 1000 level
• 2.0 unassigned Science credits at the 1000 level
• 1.0 unassigned Science credit at the 2000 level

*Additional notes: Students who have completed the Indigenous Perspectives Designation at Fleming are also eligible to receive transfer credit for INDG 1002H - Foundations of Modern Indigenous Life in place of 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 1000 level. Students must notify admissions@trentu.ca that they have completed the IPD to receive the additional credit.

Students who entered the Urban Forestry Technician Diploma program prior to Fall 2021 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received through this pathway.

To qualify for this pathway, students must:

• Successfully complete Fleming College’s Urban Forestry Technician Diploma program;
• Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

Program Residency Requirement

Students must complete the following 10.0 credits to fulfill requirements at Trent University for the  Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental and Resource Science:

• 0.5 ERSC 2220H - Environmental Assessment: Chemical and Laboratory Methods
• 0.5 ERSC 2230H - Environmental Assessment: Sampling and Analysis
• 0.5 ERST 3000H Environmental Professional Practice
• 0.5 MATH 1051H - Non-Calculus Statistics 1: Elementary Probability and Statistics
• 0.5 credit from the following:
  • 0.5 ERSC 1040H - Earth's Physical Processes and Environment;
  • 0.5 ERSC 1050H - Introduction to Climate Change Science and Policy;
  • 0.5 ERST 1030H - Human Geographies in Global Context;
  • 0.5 SAFS 1001H - Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems
• 3.0 Environmental and Resource Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
• 1.0 Environmental and Resource Studies credit at the 2000 level or beyond
• 0.5 credit from the Trent School of the Environment Capstone Course List
• 3.0 elective credits

*Note: 

• Courses without specified year levels must include at least 1.0 credit at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s), and no more than 2.0 credits at the 1000 level. Choice credits must also include at least 0.5 Math credit.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
