  • Exemption, Advanced Standing, Substitution, and Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR).

  • The number of PLAR/transfer credits will be limited by the residency requirement which states that at least 25 percent of the instruction hours required in a program of study must be completed at the College.

  • Courses completed within the past 5 (five) years are eligible for transfer credit consideration. 

  • Fleming College uses FastPass, a technology-supported tool that helps identify potential Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) credit opportunities based on a student's previous learning and experience.

    Current students interested in pursuing PLAR should visit the Fleming College PLAR webpage to learn more about the process and access FastPass: Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and FastPass. 

  • The PLAR fee is approximately $157.42 per course and must be paid prior to initiating an assessment. This fee is non-refundable. Review the PLAR website for more information: Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and FastPass. 

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your Fleming College transcript as “EX” for specified individual courses and will not be included in the GPA calculation.

  • There is no fee required for a transfer credit assessment at Fleming College.

  • The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Fleming College includes:

    • Completed ‘Transfer Credit’ application form.
    • Official course outline(s) from your former institution from the year you completed the class.
    • Official transcript(s) upon conditional approval of the course outline
  • Students can access the transfer credit form on their Student Center under transfer credit requests. 

  • Completed Transfer Credit applications must be received by the applicable course drop deadline.

  • A transfer credit decision at Fleming College will take 10 business days to process, depending on the volume of requests.

  • A Transfer Credit decision can be re-evaluated if additional information or documentation is provided to support the request within 30 calendar days of the original decision date. Contact transfercredit@flemingcollege.ca to initiate the re-evaluation process.
     

    The request must include a detailed explanation of the rationale for the reevaluation and new supporting documentation.
