Students beginning studies in the Early Childhood Education Diploma program since Fall 2017 will receive the following 7.0 transfer credits:

• 0.5 PSYC 1020H - Introduction to Psychology Part I: Experimental and Biological Bases of Behaviour
• 0.5 PSYC 3500H - Child Development
• 0.5 EDUC 1050H - Understanding Teaching and Learning through Social Justice Lenses
• 0.5 EDUC 1051H - Field Experience in Teacher Education Stream I
• 0.5 CHYS 1002H - The Significance of Play in the Lives of Children and Youth
• 0.5 INDG 1001H - The Foundation for Reconciliation
• 0.5 WRIT 1001H - Write in Time
• 0.5 WRIT 2002H - Write It Up: Effective Communication 
• 0.5 unassigned Education credit at the 2000 level
• 2.0 unassigned Arts credits at the 1000 level
• 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 2000 level

Students who began studies in the Early Childhood Education Diploma program prior to Fall 2017 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received as part of this pathway.

To qualify for this agreement, students must have:

• successfully completed Fleming College’s Early Childhood Education Diploma;
• a minimum overall average of 75%. 

Students meeting the above requirements will be eligible to enroll in the Teacher Education Stream, Primary/Junior Stream, at Trent University. As part of the pathway, Trent University commits to waiving the written component of the application and will admit students to the program. Admission to the Teacher Education Stream does not guarantee admission to the Bachelor of Education program at Trent University. Students wishing to pursue the Teacher Education Stream should apply to Psychology and e-mail admissions@trentu.ca to advise of their plan to enroll in the Stream.

• 0.5 EDUC 4051H - Field Experience in Teacher Education Stream IV
• 0.5 PSYC 1030H - Introduction to Psychology Part 2: Social and Personality Perspectives
• 0.5 PSYC 2018H - Critical Thinking and Research Methods in Psychology
• 0.5 PSYC 2019H - Basic Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology
• 0.5 PSYC 3016H - Advanced Statistics and Research Design in Psychology
• 0.5 Psychology credit from Category A2
• 0.5 Psychology credit from Category B2
• 1.0 Psychology credit from Category A3
• 0.5 Psychology credit from Category B3
• 1.0 additional Psychology credit at the 4000 level 
• 3.5 additional Psychology credits, minimum 2.5 at the 3000 level or beyond
• 1.0 elective credit

*Additional notes: Courses without specified year levels must include no more than 1.5 credits at the 1000 level. Students successfully completing a Year Abroad Program are not required to complete EDUC 3050H and 3051H. Students must complete PSYC 1030H in the term prior to entering Trent full-time in order to complete studies in three-years.

This agreement is subject to review whenever either party makes curricular changes that impact the agreement. When a change occurs, the program departments will notify their respective articulation designates so that the agreement can be updated.Articulation designates at each institution will review the agreement annually to ensure it is current. This Agreement may be terminated by either party. In this case, notice of one year is required. In the event of termination of the Agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.
