Students entering the Social Service Worker Diploma program in Fall 2025 or later will receive the following 6.0 transfer credits, provided they meet eligibility requirements:

• 0.5 SWRK 1000H - Introduction to Social Work
• 0.5 SWRK 1001H - Introduction to Social Welfare
• 1.0 SWRK 3000Y - Social Work Field Education Placement
• 0.5 INDG 1001H - The Foundation for Reconciliation
• 0.5 SOCI 1001H - Introduction to Sociology I: Critical Foundations
• 0.5 SOCI 1002H - Introduction to Sociology II: Exploring Social Life
• 0.5 WRIT 1001H - Write in Time
• 0.5 unassigned Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 2000 level
• 1.5 unassigned Arts credits at the 2000 level

Students who entered the Social Service Worker Diploma prior to Fall 2025 are encouraged to contact Trent University about transfer credits received through this pathway.

To qualify for this agreement, students must:

• Successfully complete Centennial College's Social Service Worker Diploma program;
• Achieve a minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

Students must complete the following 9.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Policing and Community Well-being degree:

• 0.5 PLCW 1001H - Introduction to Policing and Community Well-Being Part 1
• 0.5 PLCW 1003H - Social Determinants of Health and Crime
• 0.5 PLCW 2002H - Community Problem-Solving and Analysis
• 0.5 PLCW 2005H - Diversity and Exclusion
• 0.5 PLCW 2010H - Conflict Resolution
• 0.5 PLCW 2100H - Research Methods in Policing and Community Well-being
• 0.5 PLCW 3002H - Mental Health, Addiction and Community Well-being
• 0.5 PLCW 3003H - Violence in the Community
• 0.5 PLCW 3007H - Problem-solving in a Complex and Diverse Community
• 0.5 FRSC 1100H - Introduction to Canadian Justice
• 0.5 additional Policing and Community Well-being credit at the 2000 level or beyond
• 3.5 additional credits, including:
  • At least 1.5 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s);
  • No more than 2.5 credits at the 1000 level.

*Additional notes: 

• Fulfilling the requirements above lead to a Bachelor of Arts in Policing and Community Well-being. Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Policing and Community Well-being must complete additional requirements.
• Students may take only one of PLCW 4004Y or 4005Y for credit.
•  CHYS-COMM 2010H and SOCI 2151H are equivalent to PLCW 2100H for program requirements but do not count as Policing and Community Well-being credit. Students who have successfully completed CHYS-COMM 2010H or SOCI 2151H are not permitted to take PLCW 2100H but must substitute another PLCW course at the 2000 level or beyond in order to fulfill degree requirements.
• Students are encouraged to include one of SOCI 2430H - Sociology of Gender, 2610H - Deviance and Social Control, or 2615H - Crime and Society as electives for the degree.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
